I enjoy revisiting characters from films (or TV) that have meaning for me. As long as the new work is made with genuine affection and faith to the original. For example, I though JJ Abrams reboot of Star Trek was very good. But the follow-up films were awful, because they had no reverence for the source material. (i.e. it was possible to go to the Klingon empire in one day in the second movie, so much for the vastness of space).
