I found Inglorious Basterds very disappointing. The very opening scene invokes Shane, with a man working to cut up a stump. The music even feels like it could have come from a western. I thought, "A war movie as western, cool!" But no. That doesn't last long. And the other promise made in the film [SPOILER] that we will get to see Hitler killed is wasted. That long awaited moment in the film flashes in confusing fashion... we don't really see Hitler's death, just a massacre. And the work of the soldiers killing him is a waste, because he would have died in the conflagration. The whole thing left me feeling, "so what!"
