I need to make a trip to the library.
If I may, I'd add these two books:
Washington's Crossing, by David Hackett Fischer, is about the events leading up to and the aftermath of the Battle of Trenton during the Revolutionary War.
The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America, by Russell Shorto. This book is immensely fascinating and enlightening. Who'd have believed that a relatively short-lived colony could have had so much impact even today. And you'll learn about an amazing man, Adrian Van Der Donk, whom I have come to think of as the first American.
