I very recently started to watch The Abyss, recalling from a viewing 30 years ago (maybe in the theater, I can't remember) that I enjoyed the film. However, I stopped watching after 15 minutes when plot points were telegraphed (the reunion of the estranged married couple; the disruptive behavior of the Biehn character -- obvious after Mastrantonio warns everyone getting on board that after compression some people get crazy).

But your retrospective review here has caused me to try to give The Abyss another try!
