John Wayne does tend to make a liberal movie fan scratch his head (well, at least in my case). I object to his politics, the way he criticized people who wanted us out of Vietnam. Like too many white war hawks, he had not served his country. That hypocrisy is hard to deal with. But as far as I know, Wayne never physically abused women or harassed them, and that in itself may make him somewhat unique in Hollywood. So the best way to judge him now is by his movies, as you've done, Paul.

It's hard to disagree with your list, but I'd have to squeeze The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence on there.
