Something must be wrong with Medium's algorithms, as it only presented me with you Christmas film list today (March 6, 2024). I am not a big fan of It's a Wonderful Life, honestly, though I'm not here to argue the point. What I was wondering is if you feel, as I do, that the Paul Newman film Nobody's Fool (1994) is a reshaping of It's a Wonderful Life. It takes place during the holidays in a Hudson River town that seems remarkably like Bedford Falls. Newman is the George Bailey character, and one of his nemeses is a banker. He is trying to decide if he should run off with Melanie Griffith, but while he is in jail for a few days shit happens, and he realizes he's needed by people he cares about. Perhaps this correlation between the two films is well known, but I never hear anyone talking about it. Anyway, just want to know you're two cents about this.
