The Last of the Mohicans is one of my favorite movies. Among all the great qualities you mention, another is its historical accuracy. How many movies about this period show the hero loading his flintlock on the run? But that's how frontiersmen did it. Also, the siege of Fort William Henry is expertly presented, especially in the extended director's cut. We were fortunate that this movie was made when it was, when Daniel Day-Lewis was in his physical prime and could play this memorable character. Thanks for writing about this fine film
