The problem with Bear is that it isn't available for Windows users (either as a web app or a desktop app). For those who like the Bear approach, but need to be able to access it on a PC, I recommend looking at Notejoy. Its editor is remarkably similar to Bear. It is end-to-end encrypted and has other security features. It is fast and stable. I just imported a 60,000 word markdown file in about one second. It also has more robust organizational tools, including nested folders and nested tags. It does back-linking. You can email notes into Notejoy. One notable absence is the ability to add tables to notes. That's promised, but development is slow.
Notejoy is made primarily for team collaboration; however, they recognize that single users may want to use it, so offer a solo plan for $4 per month.
In case I sound like a representative of Notejoy's developers, I have no affiliation with them. I just admire their product.
